Taurus in Astrology: Taurus is the second sign of the zodiac and is universally symbolised by the Bull. Taurus is one of the three Earth signs, the others signs being those of Virgo and Capricorn. The ruling planet of Taurus is Venus. In the same way as Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn and Pisces, Taurus is negative in polarity which means that Taurus prefers to be self-reliant instead of looking to other quarters for help.

Taurus is often identified with the ruler of the Greek pantheon (Zeus). Zeus himself was generally represented as being a white bull. The connection here is that Taurus is being portrayed as a stubborn character but it also reflects the inner nature of Taurus in its qualities of strength and stamina.

Venus, the Goddess of love in Greek mythology is the ruler of Taurus. As Venus reflects the ideas of beauty and pleasure so it is the case with Taurus. This is apparent in Taurus’s love for beautiful and attractive objects and it is generally understood that the head of Taurus can be easily turned by anything Taurus regards as pretty.

The solid Earth below our feet is that element most closely associated with Taurus and this is seen in the character of Taurus in their like of clarity and reliability. Accordingly these qualities lead Taurus to choose those things that are clearly set out which have sharp definitions. This conservative attitude means that Taurus will avoid anything vague and lacking in clarity.
